The answers here will give you fuel and strength to push forward.

A simple comment on Fb will not do this man justice. Whatever posted on FB will be washed away in the timeline stream when the sun rises, and no content will ever be read again unless you’re depressed and you scroll your own timeline, or when the lawyer read your content out loud in court.

Hence, I would like to dedicate a post to him.

In our poly days, we were young, ignorant, careless, carefree, loud, engineering students trying to make it in the business world. We deserved nothing, yet we felt we had the right of way for anything, because we were taught to push, beg, steal to get things done. The combination of immaturity and this sense of hope that we can conquer anything, made us an irritating bunch. Given this preamble, you would be wondering why this guy would still care for us, listen to us, play with us, and mentor us with unconditional love.

I believe God has it all planned out, injecting this awesome “Max” guy into our lives. The name already suggests that he’s an extremist in everything that he does, and thank God, whatever he does, it’s for the greater good, for the friends, family, church, country, students, and the list goes on. When he does something, he does it with passion, and he does it good.

I’ve almost known him for 10 years now. Not a week goes by without me thinking, what would Max do in this situation? This shows how much influence he has on me, and how he has changed my life, for the better. The gentle nudging in the right direction, the lively discussions, honestly I dont remember what we discussed in the messy room of his, but I remember the warm feeling I felt in there. It’s the feeling of peace, assurance, love, and we felt like we could really conquer the world. He was our mentor, the mountain behind us that will support us in whatever situation we landed ourselves into.

Memories will get amplified over time. Bad things that happened to you? Time doesn’t really dilute it. You won’t remember the actual pain anymore, it’s just a memory in your head. But it hurts just as bad. The good news is, GOOD things get amplified too. All the great memories, laughters, good times we have in that office, too get amplified over time. When I tell this story to my kids, perhaps it will be even more dramatic, feels even better, and I will always remember this great man.

Because of his position during NP days, his energy seemed boundless, his time stretchable. He would fetch us around, stay late with us, have meals with us etc. He was really patient, never scolded us before, and always caring.

I pray that he will continue to walk with God, be the example in his awesome family, and an positive influence to his colleagues, and students. There’s not many good men who walks in the faith, practices it holily – essentially walking the talk.
