im not sure why i like driving. maybe it’s genetics. maybe it’s the control freak inside me. but i’ve always wanted to drive up to KL, ipoh, and more places in malaysia.
so last friday, we decided, let’s do it. since the death has occurred, and the anxiety left with it. it’s like sitting in a bank and waiting for your queue number. each number which was announced makes u look up and be alert. the anxiety of missing a number sucks.
this is the first trip we had since the death. and it was quite nice. We drove up to swiss garden KL, and only towards the end i realised the location was so good. it’s actually about 200m from Berjaya times square. anyway we took a few cabs around, and it was fun. though it was of course stressful to get a cab which fits our budget. but it was satisfying when you found one.
We were kings, spending on almost everything we lay our eyes on. haha. of course we are still rational most of the time. We drank and ate to our hearts’ content. At the end of each day, we were so tired we fell asleep almost the moment we hit the bed.
my tripadvisor-like review of the Swiss Garden Hotel
Swiss garden was not bad. the LCD was not too small, not too big. At least the video reception was not poor. The king size bed was very comfortable. Not overlooking KLCC / KL tower though. But it was ok. we didnt spend much time looking out of the window. it was just for sleeping. The shower head was shitty. If i had a spanner i would have changed the damn thing. Water pressure was not fantastic either.
we didnt get to try the pool 😀 Anyway we walked around Pavilion, ate at Ben’s and it was nice. got complimentary dessert because we found a hair in the food towards the end lol. then we went to Lot 10, and took the monorail to Times sq. The monorail ride was worse than singapore’s i think. but it doesnt stop leh. lol.
At times sq, we walked around, bought some stuff, revisited some old shops which we bought things 2-3 years ago, and it had a sense of familiarity to it. The roller coaster was still there. Found a “ESCAPE” room.. but we didnt had the energy to try it 🙂 maybe next time.
Free wifi : starbuck’s suck. old town coffee was great. Mcdonalds’ at Sungai Wang’s worked as well, albeit slowly. Hotel’s wifi was great as well.
Umobile blocked my number again. Topped up 10rm and it was working again.
Legend : 5 star ( must eat again ) to 3 star ( ok only )
We had lots of great food :
5 star : hokkien mee, claypot mickey mouse noodle, chatime, boost, ben’s, beef noodle off petaling street
3 star : stingray, lok lok, clay pot rice@petaling st, beef noddle in lot10foodcourt
The fish ball noodle off Times sq is nice, but i think it’s too expensive. We will not return. Once is enough 🙂
The drive back was quite fun as well, stopping at malacca Restoran Jejantas and then we went to settle the death cert at the new JPN. Then we went to Johor Premium Outlet, and we got Gap Jeans for rm60 EACH ! Got 3 pairs and we got another 20% off. What a deal. We controlled our spending this time, or rather there werent many other deals this time. Or maybe we felt poor having spent about 1k in KL lol.
I was doing 140-160 km/h consistently throughout the trip, and the car held on. It was sustained 4000 rpm.
Revving at 60/100/140 km/h still brought power to the wheels, signifying that the engine was still going strong. No vibrations of anything. I think we need to change the brakes maybe in 6 months though.
We should be doing one in Johor perhaps, then we can save 140sgd going to KL. But KL has its charm. We will see how. Perhaps one day we should take public to Johor so that we dont need to have to worry about our car. or we dont need to stay in a hotel, and just drive around.
Next trip will be Bali, HK, Germany. 2014 is just getting started.
2014 : we will be travelling a lot, and also working hard to realise 3 dreams. Prima Deli, Studybuddy, and our house.
Baby should come after the house.
